Mystical Fairy House Craft

DIY Mystical Fairy House Craft. This is a fun craft to do with kids. It will keep them busy using the different molds to create the dimensional items they want on their house. I painted my project, but using markers is also an option too.

Let’s Get Started with the Mystical Fairy House Craft

Here is a list of items you will need for this craft: (I added referral links to some of the items I used in this project at the end of the project instructions.)

  1. 5×7 canvas board
  2. Package of Model Magic
  3. Silicone Molds – I chose the small fairy garden ones
  4. Acrylic Paints
  5. Pipe cleaner for the handle
  6. Wooden Beads for the handle
  7. Adhesive to glue on the Model Magic shapes – School glue will hold the objects on the board. Hot glue, tacky glue or E600 will work too, but supervision is advised when using those products.
  8. Small piece of chipboard or cardboard

Get the Canvas Board Ready

Start with taking the canvas board and free hand draw a tree and a house on the board. It is just a few simple lines. The tree is just a line on the left side. Next, the house is a couple side wall lines and slight roof. In the next step, we will add more to the roof and chimney. Finally, paint the background. I also painted in some grass too.

Next, I took the piece of chipboard and cut out the chimney. I added a bit more of the roof on it, then cut out the chimney. I glued the chipboard piece to the top of the house.

Time to add the Model Magic Shapes

Now it’s time to add the fun stuff to the mystical fairy house craft. Grab the silicone mold you are using and the Model Magic. Take the Model Magic and condition it. Meaning, rip it and squish it to kinda warm it up a little bit. Next, you will tear off a chunk and press it in the mold. Most of the time, the clay will come out of the mold nicely. If it is not releasing in a nice shape, just put the mold in the freezer for a few minutes to firm up the clay.

Next, you can add the clay pieces to your canvas right away or wait until they are dry. I prefer to add the clay right away. Then, apply adhesive to the back of the clay and gently press the clay to the canvas board, but too hard that the clay squishes the shape out.

In the next step, you can either paint or use markers and color the clay pieces. You do not have to wait for the clay to dry before painting or using the markers. When painting or coloring while the clay is wet, you have to be careful not to crush it and ruin the image you formed with the mold. When the clay is dry, it will not crush when being colored. But be make sure the clay dries flat.

Add the Hanger to the Mystical Fairy House Craft

In the last steps, I punched holes in the canvas so I could add the pipe cleaner to hang it. I used a tool called a Crop-A-Dile to punch the holes. It is a very strong punching tool. I then used a silver pipe cleaner for the hanger. I added 2 wooden beads on each side of it for decoration. This fairy house craft is very lightweight and a fun project to complete. The crafts made will vary based on skill level, but that is what make this a fun craft to do.
